Welcoming Peculiar February
Love Month- that is usually what people would immediately think of when we say February. And why wouldn’t they if most- if not all people wait and celebrates Valentine’s Day with their precious ones. But this second month of the Gregorian calendar has so much to offer than the holiday of flowers and chocolates.
Unlike the other months of the year who had fix number of days, February had it differently for it is the only month to have a length of fewer than 30 days. The month usually has 28 days, then became 29 days long in leap years –or every after four years, such as year 2020 and 2024.
The Year of the Tiger this February
Looking at the calendar for this year of the Tiger, year 2022, there would be three celebration we will be celebrating. We will open February with the celebration of Lunar New Year, or most commonly known us Chinese New Year. Lunar New Year, begins on the date of the second new Moon of winter season and this year the moon decided to have its shadow face the Earth at February 1 and became the month’s opening celebration.
Next is what we all know the eminent February 14 where everyone, may it be couples, friend groups, or the whole family gather around to celebrate this special day to fill the air with love. And the third one being the People Power, in commemoration of Filipinos who participated in peaceful demonstrations in EDSA. The said demonstrations spanned for 4 days which led to then-president Ferdinand Marcos’ departure and the end of his 20 year presidency.
In terms of weather conditions, Philippines are typhoon free during February. The archipelago experience minimal and dry rainfall, sunny days can be expected but not too hot just enough to catch some sun. It’s no surprise therefore that February is a popular time of year to visit the Philippines.
