The route for Kedarnath Yatra

Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun is near Kedarnath, but the roads leading towards the airport from Kedarnath are far different.

There are several facilities provided by the administrators from the Gaurikund route such as medical facilities and a first-aid facility. Also, a hospital is there to take care of any emergency with ECG and modern amenities.

How to Reach

By Air- If planning to visit by air then Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest facility in Dehradun. Get down at Dehradun by air and from there a bus, taxi, or a private cab facility is there to reach Kedarnath.

By Road – There is good connectivity to Kedarnath from Delhi and Dehradun by Bus. Good luxury buses are available to reach Kedarnath. The nearest motorable road is Gaurikund. Once you reach Dehradun there are many facilities like bus, taxi or a private cab.

By Train – At Kedarnath as such, there is no railway station. However, at Rishikesh, there is a railway station and it is well connected to many major cities of India.

It is good to avoid the winter season for Kedarnath Yatra as the climate is harsh and the temple is also not open for pilgrimage. Even the monsoon is also not advisable to visit because of the heavy rains and landslides. The months which are good to do Kedarnath Yatra are May to June and September to October.
To keep the body warm all the time in Kedarnath is very essential be it summer or early winter month of October so keep all winter clothes with you during the journey.
As the weather at Kedarnath is very unpredictable so always be prepared for rain in the month of June when the monsoon is about to come.
Even when you visit in the months of summer, wear light winter wear because the cold breeze is always flowing in summer too.
The Kedarnath Yatra needs a good fitness level so that one can have a hassle-free journey, so start working on your fitness level.
All kinds of skin hydration and protection creams are musts due to harsh sun rays in summer and dry weather.
Take along all your personal medicines and get ready with a general medical kit as in the journey you might require some. No frequent pharmacy shops one can visit.
